The percentage of unemployed residents was greater than the statewide total of 36.8 percent for this demographic group. In 2018 the total Lancaster population reached 32,078.

Out of 18,557 people who had a job, 26 were employed in the Armed Forces and 18,531 belonged to the civilian labor force.

The total unemployment numbers include residents of all ages who are not working.
