City’s Chief Diversity Officer Damita Brown Stepping Down to Pursue New Opportunity

The City of Columbus Executive Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Damita Brown, has offered her resignation to pursue a professional opportunity in the not-for-profit sector. Director Brown will assume the role of Chief Diversity Officer at National Church Residences.

“Damita has been a great asset to the city,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “She shepherded the first Disparity Study in Columbus since 1993 through completion. Under her leadership, the City saw record minority participation in many projects, including Lower.com Field. In addition, Damita hosted two symposiums on inclusivity in government here in Columbus. I am grateful for her service to our community and wish her well at National Church Residences.”

Director Brown’s last day with the city will be November 1. The City will announce interim leadership and begin a search for her replacement in the coming weeks.

“We remain committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, and will seek out a dynamic and innovative leader to build upon our successes and progress made in recent years,” said Ginther.
