The Miami women's basketball team finished its stay in Florida with an 82-51 loss to West Virginia Wednesday afternoon. Ivy Wolf led the RedHawks (4-8) with 17 points, while Peyton Scott added 13 points and eight rebounds. The Mountaineers improved their season record to 9-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Virginia scored the first 10 points of the game and took a 19-5 lead after the opening quarter. Wolf had four points in the period to lead the RedHawks.
- After a basket by Sierra Morrow, WVU scored seven consecutive points to take its largest lead at 30-7. Miami promptly responded with an 11-2 spurt of its own, including long-range jumpers by Scott, Clare Chambers and Wolf. West Virginia entered halftime with a 39-22 advantage.
- The RedHawks used an 11-2 run in the second half to battle back and trim the deficit to single digits at 48-39 with 3:19 to play in the third quarter before the Mountaineers pulled away down the stretch.
- Morrow blocked a career-high three shots.
- Miami shot 15-16 from the foul line (93.8%).
- Scott had a season-high eight rebounds.
