Eastland Career Center BPA Chapter Produces 53 State Qualifiers

Of the more than 60 students that competed at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) regional competition for the Eastland Career Center chapter, 40 of those students will be moving on to the next level. This includes 17 students that were tabbed first place in the region for their event.

In late January, students from across Region 14 gathered in one place to showcase their skills as part of the annual BPA local competition. The Eastland Career Center chapter had a highly successful showing which included 17 first-place finishes, 19 second-place finishes, 40 different state qualifiers, and 77 students that placed fifth or better in their respective events.

Programming & Software Development senior Adam Offord (Gahanna Lincoln) will compete in three different events at the upcoming state conference. 

Multiple students will move on to compete in two events at the state competition. Those students include junior Susmita Adhikari (Programming & Software Development, Reynoldsburg), junior Fatimata Baro (Medical Office, Groveport Madison), senior Fatoumata Diallo (Medical Office, Groveport Madison), senior Emily Erlich (Medical Office, Canal Winchester), senior Yakob Getu (Programming & Software Development, Whitehall Yearling), senior Skye Gordon (Medical Office, Liberty Union), senior Tina Johnson (Medical Office, Reynoldsburg), junior Ava Massie (Medical Office, New Albany-Plain Local), senior Tehya Norris (Medical Office, Fairfield Union), senior Audrey Singratsomboune (Groveport Madison), senior Fabrizio Manrique (Programming & Software Development, Groveport Madison) and senior Haley Wells (Medical Office, Hamilton Township).

State qualifiers will fine-tune their projects or presentations for the next level of competition, which will be held March 9, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. The awards ceremony will take place the following day at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is the premier career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, finance, office administration, health administration, and other related career fields.
