State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) announced that the Ohio Statehouse School Bus Transportation Grant Program will be open from September 23 through September 30. The grant aims to assist schools in covering the cost of bus transportation for field trips to the state capitol.

"Visiting the Ohio Statehouse is a great opportunity for our next generation of leaders," Schaffer stated. "I hope local schools consider applying for this grant so that more students can learn about state government and what it means to be civically engaged."

The grants will be awarded by the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) and the Capitol Square Foundation, in partnership with Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. Any Ohio school that receives state funding is eligible to apply. The grants are specifically available for 4th through 12th grade students during the 2024/2025 school year. A random lottery selection will determine which schools receive grants, categorized by their distance from the Statehouse.

Eligible schools can find more information and apply here.
