A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County on September 26, 2024. The request was made by DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. The requested information includes the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.
As part of our commitment at DeKalb Times to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe that access to these records is essential. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We will continue our efforts in gathering and reporting news to the public and are awaiting a response from Dekalb County regarding this FOIA request.
