State Senator Tim Schaffer has announced that Fairfield County will receive $390,000 for community development projects aimed at enhancing park facilities and water quality. The funding is part of the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Allocation Program.

"These funds will help thousands of people have access to our parks and improve water quality in our environment," Schaffer stated. "These projects moving forward will continue our communities down the path of success."

The allocation will support several initiatives: park improvements in Bremen benefiting 1,640 residents, enhancements in Fairfield Beach for 810 people, handicap-accessible ramps in Amanda assisting 700 individuals, and wastewater treatment upgrades in Rushville aiding 230 people.

The CDBG program allows U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development non-entitlement communities to apply for funding every two years. In Ohio, 101 eligible communities are divided between even and odd years for funding distribution. For 2024, a total of $10,997,450 has been allocated to 49 communities.
