State Senator Tim Schaffer has expressed support for Intel's recent funding award from the U.S. Department of Commerce under the CHIPS and Science Act. The funding, amounting to up to $7.86 billion, is intended to assist Intel in advancing its construction efforts in Ohio.

Schaffer stated, "Great news for Licking County and all of Ohio today as Intel has been awarded up to $7.86 billion from the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act. This grant will help Intel continue construction and move us closer to the Silicon Heartland becoming a reality."

He emphasized the importance of this development for national security by stating, "Intel's presence in our region will boost national security. Bringing chip-making back to the U.S. is imperative for our nation's success." In addition to this grant, Intel has also received a $3 billion contract from the federal government aimed at expanding semiconductor manufacturing for government use.

Schaffer highlighted the significance of these investments for Ohio's economy: "Today is also a pivotal one for our state's economic prosperity. I am excited for the new careers, development, and opportunities that will be available to Ohioans as a result of this historic investment."
