State Senator Tim Schaffer has announced a significant development in Licking County, Ohio. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority has approved a tax credit of $5,809,819 for the second phase of the Heath Central Park project. This development will feature 24 multifamily residential buildings, assisted living facilities, public spaces, and recreational areas designed to host year-round athletic events.

The project is expected to generate 376 permanent jobs and support 575 construction jobs at the site near the Newark Earthworks. Senator Schaffer expressed his enthusiasm for the redevelopment, stating: "I am elated this part of Heath is being redeveloped, creating jobs, housing for families, recreation options, and opportunities for everyone in Licking County." He added that the tax credit would significantly aid in advancing the project.

The tax credit comes from the Transformational Mixed-Use Development program's fourth round. This initiative has been backed by Senator Schaffer and the General Assembly. In total, this round supports nine mixed-use projects across Ohio. These projects are projected to create over $1.1 billion in new payroll and $2 billion in investments statewide.
