The State of Ohio has allocated more than $3.63 million for several projects in Licking County, according to an announcement from State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster).
The funding includes $2,298,117 for renovations at Evans Hall on The Ohio State University’s Newark campus. Additionally, the City of Newark will receive a $1 million Roadwork Development Grant from the Ohio Department of Development to support the Packaging Corporation of America project. Another $340,791.57 will go to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for trail paving projects aimed at improving accessibility at Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve.
“I am proud have voted for this key funding for my district and am happy to see these dollars going back into our community,” Schaffer said. “This funding will go a long way toward improving Licking County whether it is access to quality higher education classrooms at OSU Newark, improving roadways for our local businesses and workers and opening up accessible trails at Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve.”
These funds were secured through House Bill 2, part of the state capital appropriations legislation signed into law in June 2024 during the 135th General Assembly.
