Columbus metro surpass Peoria in 2019

The Columbus metro area exported $2 billion in 2019, more than exports from Peoria in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Columbus metro area consists of eight counties.

The Peoria metro area comprises four counties exporting $746.8 million in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
