Fairfield Police have announced that Jose Ciprian Ramirez-Hernandez, 31, of Cincinnati, has been indicted on six counts of felonious assault related to a June 8 shooting at the Sabor Peruano nightclub. He remains in custody under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer, according to a report.
According to the Journal-News, Fairfield Police officers responded to the June 8 shooting at Sabor Peruano on Dixie Highway. They found a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later released. Police reports indicate that this incident was part of a larger pattern of violence at the venue. Fairfield Police noted that this shooting was one of two in recent months at Sabor Peruano, prompting what they called a "targeted operation" to reduce violence and restore safety in the area.
The Butler County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed through Journal-News reporting that Ramirez-Hernandez allegedly fired into a vehicle carrying multiple people during the June 8 incident. Grand jury proceedings resulted in his indictment on six counts of felonious assault, each classified as a second-degree felony. Under Ohio law, such charges can lead to a prison sentence of two to eight years per count, underscoring the severity of the allegations.
According to WLWT5, Butler County Sheriff’s records suggest Ramirez-Hernandez may be in the United States illegally, leading to a detainer request from ICE. ICE detainers are formal requests asking local jurisdictions to hold individuals so that federal authorities can take custody. WLWT5 also reported that Ramirez-Hernandez was booked into the Butler County Jail on Friday and is awaiting arraignment, which had not yet been scheduled as of the report.
