On August 30, 2022, the Fairfield Career Center chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) was named a 2022 recipient of the Silver Star of Excellence Award by the NTHS national organization. They were one of four chapters, nationally, to be recognized for the honor.
This award is presented annually to NTHS chapters that distinguish themselves through their consistent excellence in career-technical education and is a reflection of their commitment to community service, chapter advancement, and active civic involvement.
During the past school year, Fairfield Career Center’s NTHS chapter has participated in philanthropic food drives, donut sales, and educational activities. Their members collected approximately 3,000 boxed and canned goods for a local food pantry during the 2021 holiday season. Additionally, last year’s members raised over $1,200 to be used for membership fees and educational field trips that will benefit NTHS students during the 2022-23 school year.
In October 2021, 12 additional students were welcomed into the Fairfield Career Center chapter of NTHS. Another class of students will be inducted into the chapter in late September once the application and selection process has been completed. To be considered for NTHS at FCC, a student must earn a 3.7 or higher grade point average and have a 97 percent attendance rate, or better, in his or her junior year with no major discipline infractions.
